How did you and your partner meet, and how did you know they were the one?
Luis and I met at an engineering conference in Texas. I was searching for career and scholarship opportunities and he was recruiting for the US Navy. There was a 24-hour competition that I decided to enter. Luis interviewed me and selected me for his team. During the competition, we made eye contact which led to meeting after the competition was over. We were just short of first place but we found each other. After the conference was over, we made plans to get to know each other better which led to cross country dates ….and the rest was history.
How did he propose to you?
After almost seven years of long distance, moving around the country, moving in together and a deployment, Luis surprised me at our favorite brunch spot in Malibu.
Who was the most nervous on the big day?
We definitely shared nervousness that day! From hair and makeup until the ceremony I was super nervous. After the ceremony, Luis took over and probably looked at our wedding schedule three times during dinner to make sure everything was going as planned.
If you could relive any moment during your wedding day what would it be?
First Dance! Our first dance was a surprise choreographed dance; however, it occurred during an earthquake. Although our guests said our “dance was so good it literally shook the earth,” we were totally distracted and wish we could showcase our moves one more time.
Celebrating your big day means making tons of decisions. What was your favorite part of the planning experience?
Selecting a venue. We knew we wanted to get married at a vineyard but we didn’t anticipate all the amazing wine we would try in the process.
What inspired you to choose your wedding colors/theme?
I was hoping for modern/boho/chic. So I envisioned desert style florals and neutral colors. After several months of pinterest-ing we settled on navy, ivory, gold and dusty rose.
Dress Color: Dusty Rose
How did you decide on your wedding venue?
Since majority of our guests are from out of town, we wanted to give them the ultimate wine country experience in southern California. Our criteria was: spectacular views of the rolling hills + vineyards, modern architecture and great wine. When we saw our venue and met the venue coordinator we knew that was the spot.
Why did you choose Azazie to be a part of your special day?
My sister-in-law told me about Azazie. I also confirmed with an online community with brides to be. Everyone mentioned that the quality of the dresses and customer service was great! After searching through the styles, I found multiple dresses that I thought my bridesmaids would like- it seamed like a no brainer.
What was your favorite part of your Azazie experience?
The showroom feature! My bridesmaids were all over the country (and in a different state from me) so the showroom tool made it easier for me to create dress options, view favorites, and track orders.
