To get this perfect fit, Azazie uses 5 key measurements: bust, waist, hips, hollow to floor and height. These numbers are then plugged into a program that helps us alter the patterns to the correct sizing; it calculates where the neckline, waistline and hemline should fall on your body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azazie recommends that you get professionally measured if you are going custom. Too often, people measure themselves incorrectly which results in a dress that does not fit as expected. If the numbers are altered as well, the dress may not come out correctly. And unfortunately, since custom dresses are made specifically for you, they cannot be returned or exchanged for any reason. Keep in mind that this is not the same measurement as your bra size. The bust measurement is achieved by measuring the fullest part of the bust. All the traditional bridesmaids dresses come with built-in padding and boning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Waist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the waist, start by bending over to one side to find the crease that indicates your natural waist. This is about at the bottom of the rib cage, 1-2 inches above the belly button. Wrap the tape around the narrowest part. Do not suck in your stomach and remember to leave some breathing room. It\u2019s best to hold the measuring tape the way you want the dress to fit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hips<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To attain the hips measurement, stand straight and pull the tape across the widest part of the hips and across your rear; this is usually right around the groin area. In your measurement, you might also want to add about \u00bd-1 inch extra to allow yourself room to sit down.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hollow to Floor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hollow to floor measurement is measured from the hollow of the neck, which is the dip between your collarbones, all the way to the floor with your bare feet together, standing straight. You might find that, after comparing your measurements to the size chart, you fit closely with a standard size and might prefer that over a custom fit. Remember that the biggest difference is that we allow returns for standard sizes whereas we do not for custom dresses, although we do offer limited alteration reimbursements for custom sizing. If you\u2019re in between sizes, we suggest going with the larger size or simply ordering a custom dress!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For standard dresses, we provide the hollow to hem measurements (from between your collarbones to the bottom of the dress) so you can gauge the length of the dress. For standard sized floor length dresses, the measurement includes an extra 2 inches to fit high heels. Our dresses are designed for someone who is about 5\u20197\u201d. If you are taller than that, our stylist, Paulette, definitely recommends ordering custom to ensure that the length will work for you. If a dress measures too long but you would like a standard size, Paulette recommends getting the standard and then getting it hemmed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Junior bridesmaids dresses are made for girls who are generally smaller than an adult woman. As a result, the sizing is much smaller than compared to traditional bridesmaids. For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azazie.com\/all\/mother-of-the-bride-dresses\" target=\"_blank\">Mother of the Bride<\/a> (MOB) dresses, the sizing is the same with the exception of required measurements for shoulder (video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JEALhbkjNYM\">here<\/a>), shoulder to bust and armhole since many of the MOB dresses have sleeves or come with a wrap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shoulder<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The shoulder measurement is taken from the tip of the left shoulder across your back to the tip of your right shoulder. Shoulder to bust is measured from the top of the shoulder to the bust point (about middle of breast). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Armhole<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the armhole, our stylists suggest taking one of your button up shirts or jacket that\u2019s non-stretch and measure the seam, following the circular path of the armhole. This circumference is more accurate than measuring it directly off your body since your armhole is generally bigger than just the size of your arm. A measurement off the body would probably result in a fit that is too tight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both custom and standard size dresses are made to order so the processing time is the same.
