Why They Chose Indigo For Their Wedding

As one of the seven colors of the rainbow, Indigo is known as the residing between blue and violet on the color spectrum. A deep and vibrant color, Indigo is both compelling and flattering. Indigo is an appropriate choice for any wedding venue or theme, but is especially lovely for a whimsical garden wedding.

I'm a painter, so I work with beautiful colors every day. Indigo has always been one of my favorite colors of all time because it's so saturated. After I got engaged, I looked to some of my paintings for inspiration about the wedding palette and bridesmaid dress colors. Indigo stood out from the beginning and my bridesmaids loved the idea as well.

- Jestina

My husband's side of the family is from India, so when during wedding planning, I took care to incorporate elements of traditional Indian culture. I found out during my research that Indigo was first used for dyeing fabric in India. I thought it would be great to have the bridesmaid wear Indigo dresses – which they loved!

- Patty

I'm very spiritual and I love new age philosophy. In new age philosophy, Indigo is the color of the sixth chakra, which symbolizes intuition. I loved what the color symbolized, and thought that it would make for a great choice for the bridesmaid dresses. We chose these sweeping floor-length dresses on Azazie and the girls looked beautiful!

- Katrina

My husband both love jazz and one of our favorite songs is called 'Mood Indigo.' We listen to that song together all the time, which is when I got the inspiration to have the bridesmaids wear Indigo color dresses. They loved the idea. The Indigo dresses looked really with the statement gold earrings that we picked out.
